Cassandra Bishay

Hello, I am Cassandra (Cass) Bishay, a Registered Psychologist with The College of Alberta Psychologists. With a genuine passion for understanding people and their inner workings, I am delighted to offer my unique blend of expertise in therapeutic work with individuals and couples, coupled with insights from an industrial psychology perspective on organizational dynamics.

My goal is to empower individuals and couples to thrive in their personal lives, while also assisting organizations in recognizing the pivotal role of the human component in achieving business success. By understanding the complexities of the human mind and behavior, I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of my clients and the organizations I work with.

If you're interested in learning more about my background and approach, I invite you to continue reading below.

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

You can expect a very authentic approach from me. I want you to see the commonality in our humanness. I understand coming to counselling can feel scary or intimidating, so I work hard to relieve those feelings as soon as we meet. With that, humour will absolutely be sprinkled in our sessions when appropriate. My approach tends to be very relaxed, collaborative, and relatively direct. I am extremely passionate about the work I do and want to ensure I give clients a good therapeutic experience. You truly should feel safe, comfortable, and cared for-because you are!

In my sessions, I encourage clients to discover new perspectives, process aspects of their lives, learn to understand their experiences better and focus on personal strengths to work towards healing. I thoroughly enjoy working with both individuals and couples. I rejoice in helping individuals with a variety of issues, however, my core interests and competencies lie in helping clients with relationship issues, understanding and working through ingrained beliefs and narratives from our past, body image concerns, sexuality, identity development, and anxiety. When helping couples, it is my goal to help them work towards having a happier relationship by managing conflict, increasing awareness of counterproductive relational patterns, and, increasing friendship, intimacy, trust, and respect between partners.

I recognize each client/couple is unique and deserves their therapy to be independently tailored to their unique personalities and concerns. As a result, I am person-centred at my core. I will adjust to each client differently and draw from various approaches to create a customized experience that will best fit a client’s needs. I will integrate aspects of Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Attachment Theory, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, Psychoanalytic Theory, and The Gottman Method to Couple’s Therapy.

I genuinely believe it is a privilege to be a therapist and have clients trust me with their personal affairs and internal worlds. With that, I look forward to learning from each client and walking beside them in their journey toward healing.

INDUSTRIAL PSYCHOLOGY APPROACH

As a psychologist with a deep understanding of organizational development, I recognize the significant role that employees play in shaping a company's success. I am keenly aware of the complexities that arise from the variability of personalities, the influence of mental health, the diversity of skill sets, and the dynamics of interpersonal interactions within an organization. Understanding these factors is essential for fostering a thriving and productive environment.

From both an HR perspective and a psychological lens, I believe that establishing a unique and individual connection with employees is crucial. By understanding and acknowledging their needs, supporting their growth, and coaching them through their interactions, we can help them reach their full potential. As a professional specializing in relationships and systemic exchanges, I am well-equipped to support employee development and facilitate effective communication within the organization.

I offer a comprehensive and tailored approach that aligns with the specific requirements of the organization. With my background as a psychologist, I have been trained to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and help them based on their unique narratives and strengths. Combining this expertise with my knowledge of human resources enables me to strike a balance between employee needs and the organization's goals, values, and visions. By bridging this gap, I can provide companies with practical solutions and valuable advisory support. This can be achieved through consultations, workshops, or individual work with employees.

I am passionate about leveraging my skills and experience to contribute to the success of organizations by promoting employee well-being, fostering positive relationships, and facilitating effective communication and growth.
